S&P 500 futures fell 0.75% -- and Nasdaq futures over 1% -- this morning as investors digested the growing dissent within the Federal Reserve regarding future policy actions, with a divided 9-3 vote to cut by 0.25% being described by Chair Jerome Powell as a "close call." Sentiment soured across the board, with Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) over 2% lower in early trading, at one point dipping below $90,000.
Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) fell over 10% ahead of the market open after results showed capex spend rising to $50 billion for the full year, stoking concerns around the cost and time needed to monetize artificial intelligence (AI).
Oxford Industries (NYSE:OXM) was down more than 20% in early trading, as the third-quarter adjusted loss per share increased and full-year guidance was lowered, on a softer start to the holiday season.
As mentioned in Monday's Breakfast News, Costco (NASDAQ:COST) will report results following the closing bell, with investors expecting to see revenue growth via an increase in same-store sales, building on last quarter.
