Going into earnings season, investors understandably viewed the major telecom players with some slight skepticism. Although fully entrenched in the mobile revolution, the big players have different economics than the hardware and software providers that capture so much of the limelight. Adding to investor worries, some telecom players also mentioned that pricing competition could adversely impact their quarters as well. With the first of the big-name telecom, Verizon Communications, recently announcing its quarterly results, Andrew weighs in Verizon's quarter and the prospects of the wider industry.
