Today, Austin discusses three reasons to consider buying pharmaceutical giant Walgreen (WBA 1.59%). The company stands to benefit from a few macroeconomic factors over the coming years. The acceleration of the aiging population and upholding of the Affordable Care Act mandate will both increase overall demand for consumer drugs, and Walgreen appears positioned to take advantage. The company also increased relevance with consumers by adding a grocery line. The low-margin addition actually helped Walgreen almost double same-store sale increase. And the recent Alliance Boots acquisition should help offset those low margins with higher margin cosmetics. Alliance could also potentially give the company a stepping stone into new markets. Austin is still a little bearish overall, but he does see these three upsides.
