Altria (NYSE: MO) may be a domestically-focused dividend giant, but that doesn’t mean what happens internationally doesn’t affect them. The restrictive packaging requirements now in place there could carry over to our shores if proven effective.

Effective legislation has the potential for a rapid domino effect of other governments adopting the same proven policies. Much the same way that California’s early smoking bans spread to other states, Australia’s approach could become the norm in other nations, as well.
