Just hours before the government's "sequester" plan went into effect, the Department of Defense announced a series of small (in defense contracting terms) contract awards to multiple publicly traded companies Thursday. Among them:
- General Dynamics' (GD 0.19%) Gulfstream Aerospace subsidiary won a $49.6 million contract to provide logistics support for C-37 aircraft, the military version of the civilian Gulfstream V business jet. This contract runs through the end of this year.
- General Electric's (GE 1.99%) Finnish medical equipment subsidiary, Datex-Ohmeda Oy, was given a fourth option year on a contract to supply "patient monitoring systems, subsystems, accessories, consumables, spare/repair parts and training" in an award worth $19.8 million. This contract should be complete by March 5, 2014.
- Boeing (BA 1.63%) won an $11.4 million modification to a previously awarded contract, requesting the company to supply 1,001 precision laser guidance sets for the U.S. Air Force by February 2014.
- Engineering firm Engility Holdings (EGL) got a $9.6 million contract modification asking it to provide Naval Air Systems Command with technical and engineering services under the Structural Appraisal of Fatigue Effects (SAFE) Program. The completion date is February 2014.
- Science Applications International Corp (NYSE: SAI) was awarded $8 million for engineering work on global positioning systems. Completion date: May 7, 2013.
