Facebook's new mobile strategy is exactly what the company needs to do to bolster its presence on smartphones.

Last week, Facebook (FB 1.29%) unveiled its new Home layer of services and features that sits on top of Google (GOOGL 1.77%) Android. This is the perfect mobile strategy for the social network, since it won't have to compete directly with primary platforms such as Android and Apple (AAPL 2.54%) iOS. Instead, it can ride their success and further engage users by being a secondary platform. Facebook has scored integration within iOS, but Apple's controlling ways mean it couldn't get the level of integration that Home offers.

In the following video, Fool contributor Evan Niu, CFA, discusses how important Facebook Home is.
