Goldcorp's solid move earlier this month may signal a more significant shift in the precious metals markets.

After an extended period of underperforming gold as a commodity, Goldcorp (GG) and other miners have shown small signs that they are ready to battle back. Against a backdrop of Alcoa's (AA) earnings, Chinese inflation data, and other global macroeconomic news, early signs of a structural shift look possible.
