Social networker Facebook (META -0.83%) recently launched its Home suite of software and services, which sits on top of Google (GOOGL 10.58%) Android as a secondary layer. A Twitter executive recently hinted that the rival social platform has been exploring similar strategies on Android, which could put competitive heat on Facebook.

This level of integration is only possible on Android, since Apple (AAPL 0.12%) and Microsoft (MSFT 1.88%) exert much more control over their respective mobile platforms.
