SoftBank, the Japanese telecom that signed an agreement last fall to buy Sprint Nextel (S), has given Sprint a waiver allowing it to talk with its other suitor, DISH Network (DISH).

The waiver only allows Sprint to get clarifying information about DISH's proposed buyout, and it specifically states that Sprint cannot enter into negotiations with the satellite pay-TV provider. It also forbids Sprint from disclosing any non-public information about its deal with SoftBank.

However, SoftBank allowing Sprint to determine whether or not DISH's offer would be one superior to that offered by SoftBank is certainly a tiny step toward DISH fulfilling its mobile carrier ambitions. Fool contributor Dan Radovsky explains it all in the video below.
