As the tablet market takes off, Microsoft (MSFT 0.28%) is trying to play catch-up with its Surface line of tablets. And although investors have yet to see anything bordering on official data, it seems that sales for the device haven't exactly lived up to expectations. However, not all hope is lost, as the rumor mill now expects Microsoft to follow the likes of Apple and Amazon.com into the lower end of what's becoming a very crowded market for mini tablets.
