Let's start with Kandi. The Chinese maker of go-karts, ATVs, and other small electric vehicles was one of the market's biggest winners after announcing that China has approved Kandi's first electric sedan. Speculators stormed in, but at least Kandi's already profitable with its current endeavors.

SodaStream popped higher after an Israeli business publication wrote that the world's second largest soft-drink company was making a $2 billion offer for the company behind the popular namesake system that turns still water in sparkling soda. The story was quickly batted down by the proposed buyer, but a denial often isn't enough in avoiding a short squeeze for a heavily shorted investment.

MannKind moved nicely higher on Monday. The company had announced at the end of the prior trading week that it had completed all of the follow-up visits related to the clinical study for its inhalable insulin solution. The data from the study will be released later this summer, and wrapping up the follow-up visits is a good indicator that there won't be any delays in announcing the late-stage trial results.

Boulder Brands -- the company that until January was known as Smart Balance -- moved higher on Friday after Imperial Capital initiated coverage with an "outperform" rating.

Boulder changed its name to reflect its portfolio of "better for you" products beyond its heart-healthy buttery spreads. From gluten-free Udi's and Glutino products to the vegan-friendly Earth Balance line, there's more to Boulder than just Smart Balance these days.

Finally we have Northern Tier moving higher after Citigroup initiated coverage with a bullish "buy" rating. Citi established a $29 price target on the independent downstream energy specialist.
