On Tuesday, Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) added colorful favicons, a shortcut icon or small logo, to its text-based ads.

The change comes after regularly testing small changes to Google text ads. More so than other potential additions, the search giant found that the favicons make an advertiser more recognizable to customers, thereby making it more likely for readers to click on those ads.
