Jean Raby, a former partner and managing director of Goldman Sachs' investment banking division, has been named Alcatel-Lucent's (NYSE: ALU) chief financial and legal officer effective Sept. 1, Alcatel-Lucent announced today. Raby will relocate to Alcatel-Lucent's Paris headquarters, according to the company.

Alcatel-Lucent CEO Michel Combs said in the company press release that Raby's "extensive knowledge of the industry and his deep understanding of global financial markets in the widest sense will be of great value as we drive ahead with the implementation of the Shift Plan announced in June" that includes selling "selective assets" and refinancing and reducing debt.

Prior to his position with Goldman Sachs, Raby became a member of the New York Bar Association in 1988, Alcatel-Lucent said in today's statement.
