Boeing (BA 2.02%) released its latest report on airplane orders received -- and canceled -- through the first eight months of 2013 on Thursday.
To date, the aerospace giant has booked:
- 758 "gross" orders for various flavors of its 737 regional airliner
- 89 orders for its troubled 787 Dreamliner
- 44 for the 777 airliner
- and five 747 orders
From this total, Boeing subtracted 96 737s, eight 777s, just a single 787 -- but all of the 747s -- for customer cancellations, resulting in a net of 786 commercial airplanes ordered year to date. That's about 94 more net new orders than the firm was tallying early last month -- and this number is slated to rise soon, as 65 new 737 orders from Canada's roll onto Boeing's books.
Boeing says on its website that China's Xiamen Airlines accounted for six of the seven new 787 orders booked since July, while about half the 777 orders came from a single, not-yet-publicly identified customer.
