Tata Motors' (TTM) Jaguar Land Rover said today it will add 1,700 new jobs in the U.K. as it invests $2.35 billion in new vehicle chassis architecture technology at its facility in Solihull.
The integrated chassis and body technology was introduced on the Jaguar C-X15 crossover concept and will be added to the company's all new mid-sized sports sedan in 2015. The company said the new chassis will be the basis on which a full range of new vehicles will be built on. Jaguar Land Rover expects the new technology to allow the company to both enter and compete in new vehicle segments.
The CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, Dr. Ralf Speth, said in a press release, "At Jaguar Land Rover we place the customer at the heart of everything we do, and the introduction of a world class all-new aluminium vehicle architecture means we will be more competitive, flexible, and efficient delivering exciting new products for our customers around the world."
Jaguar Land Rover said that over the past three years it has announced nearly 11,000 manufacturing jobs in the U.K., including the new ones just mentioned.
