The huge success of comic-book films and TV shows has some networks rushing to develop properties. The latest? Gotham, an adaptation about Batman's hometown and the everyday characters that live there -- including those who go on to become key members of The Dark Knight's world.

21st Century Fox (FOX) will air the show, but the real winner here is Time Warner (TWX), Fool contributor Tim Beyers says in the following video. Why? According to Entertainment Weekly, Fox suffered a bidding war to get the property. Warner could be enjoying superior terms for producing the show, presuming it airs.

Expect Fox to follow through, Tim says, if only because DC's Arrow is already a ratings winner. Walt Disney's (DIS -0.45%) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also opened impressively. All signs point to TV audiences that want more comic-book adaptations.

Does that mean investors can expect Gotham to be a catalyst for Fox stock? What about Warner? Please watch the video to get Tim's full take, and then let us know where you stand in the comments box below.
