In the solar space for over 30 years, but expanding its presence in Silicon Valley, it's very clear DuPont (DD) is aiming to stay on top of latest trends and participate in the development of new, innovative solar-cell products. These products include bendable, stretchable circuit materials such as Kapton polyimide film, which is 100 times thinner and 200 times lighter than glass. With the solar industry for efficiency to become even more competitive than fossil fuels, DuPont's focus on next generation materials could be a big talking point in 2014.

The company's CoolLam also helps keep lighting from LED designs to stay cooler and last even longer. The fact iCoolLam can be bendable can save costs and amount of parts. This can be a big revenue opportunity for DuPont since recent estimates by Lux Research that China's LED lightning market alone with more than double to $7.4 billion in the next three years.
