Americans are paying more at the gas pump this week, according to an Energy Information Administration report released today.
The national average price for regular gasoline clocked in at $3.444 per gallon today, up $0.064 from a week ago, but still $0.340 below the same time last year. The Rocky Mountain region got hit with the worst hike ($0.083), while Gulf Coast prices headed just $0.030 higher.

While gas prices jumped, diesel prices edged up with a $0.028 increase during the past week, to $4.017 per gallon. This latest price tag puts diesel $0.142 per gallon below the same time last year. Rocky Mountain also saw the biggest boost for diesel ($0.045), while East Coasters enjoyed the smallest $0.019 rise.

At these latest prices, the West Coast pays the prettiest penny for gasoline ($3.652), while the East Coast doles out the most for diesel ($4.148). Meanwhile, the Gulf Coast can guzzle gas for just $3.209, and diesel for $3.806 per gallon.
