LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Fandango, a movie ticket service owned by cable company Comcast Corp., said Thursday that it is has agreed to buy film-related video site Movieclips.com.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Movieclips works with movie studios to obtain clips of films to publish online. It has 25 channels on Google's video site YouTube with more than 7 million subscribers, Fandango said. Those videos will appear on Fandango's website and apps. The videos will also send fans to Fandango's sites.
Los Angeles-based Fandango makes money by selling movie tickets online to about 23,000 movie screens around the country. It wants to be an online destination for movie fans. It recently redesigned its website and started producing its own movie review videos.
Fandango is buying Movieclips from Venice, Calif.-based Zefr, which helps brands build audiences and make money on YouTube. Zefr started Movieclips in 2009.
