Kindred Healthcare's (NYSE:KND) attempts to buy Gentiva (UNKNOWN:GTIV.DL) seem to keep hitting the skids. First there were the multiple board rejections. And now rumors abound that Gentiva is looking to buy out fellow hospice and home health company Amedisys (NASDAQ:AMED). How credible are the rumors?
Credible enough that Kindred sent Gentiva a note decrying the potential of this "value-destroying and highly levered transaction." And Kindred's management made clear that they may pull their offer if the Amedisys buyout occurs.
So, should Gentiva buy Amedisys? Should Kindred buy Gentiva?
