With the summer upon us, recent college graduates will be looking for their first jobs, so The Motley Fool's Matt Trogdon and Morgan Housel sat down to discuss a few pieces of advice for recent college grads. First, Housel exploded the myth that employers continue to pay special attention to where someone attended college:

Really, once you're hired ... the amount that people care what school you went to declines rapidly. What they care about is, are you good at what you do? Are you pleasant to work with?

Housel also discussed the need for current grads to become proficient in Microsoft Excel. "I'm pretty shocked at how little this is emphasized in school."
