As 2015 ends, it's a good time to assess how Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) smartwatch fared after its launch earlier this year. The last data from Canalys says that Apple shipped 7 million units (as of November), and that number is likely to rise over the holiday season. 

But the bigger picture for the company is how well its Apple Watch can compete with increased competition from Android Wear devices that are hitting the market. New IDC predictions show that Apple will still continue to have an advantage over other smartwatch makers.
