The tech industry hasn't always gotten along with the government, but that didn't stop President Obama from stopping by in Austin and extending an olive branch.

Some might have been surprised to hear President Barack Obama spoke at this year's South by Southwest -- the public sector has long been dogged by the stereotype of rigid bureaucracy, while SXSW is known as an annual showcase for innovation and thought leadership in tech.
