Is Tesla Falling Behind in Autonomous Driving?

Tesla's comments and actions show that it may already be behind competitors in self-driving technology.

Tesla (TSLA 2.60%) has been a leader in autonomous driving with its Autopilot software, which costs between $6,000 and $12,000 in new vehicles. But is Tesla the industry leader, or are companies like General Motors (GM +1.51%) and Alphabet (GOOG 0.76%) (GOOGL 0.33%) surpassing Tesla's technology with very little fanfare?
