Some closely follow the stocks bought and sold by famous investors such as Warren Buffett. Copying Buffett's investments through the years would have enabled you to make a lot of money.
Another strategy that has become increasingly popular recently, though, is to follow the stocks bought and sold by politicians. One politician has been an especially active trader: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. She just bought five artificial intelligence (AI) stocks. Should you buy them too?
1. Adobe
Greene bought shares of Adobe (ADBE -2.13%) on Feb. 11, 2025. She isn't the only member of Congress who has invested in the software company recently. Rep. Chuck Fleischman, R-Tenn., Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, Rep. Rob Bresnahan, R-Pa., and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif. also bought shares of Adobe this year.
Is Adobe a good pick for other investors? I think so. The company is using generative AI extensively in its digital media products. Wall Street analysts project the stock could soar 23% over the next 12 months. With Adobe's shares 20% below the September 2024 high, this stock looks like a smart one to buy on the dip.
2. Apple
Greene also bought shares of Apple (AAPL 3.09%) on Feb. 11. This wasn't her first time to invest in the consumer technology giant. Greene scooped up shares of Apple on Halloween -- Oct. 31, 2024. The purchase has turned out to be a treat rather than a trick. Apple's stock is up around 8% since her trade.
I like Apple as a long-term investment. However, the stock is one to keep on a watch list instead of buying hand over fist right now, in my view. I'd like to see more evidence that the company is delivering stronger growth to help justify its lofty forward price-to-earnings ratio of 33.3.
3. Meta Platforms
Perhaps Meta Platforms (META -1.35%) CEO Mark Zuckerberg's newfound friendliness with President Trump has made Greene a fan of his company. She has bought Meta shares on five occasions since October 2024, most recently on Feb. 11.
I wholeheartedly agree with buying Meta stock. The company's Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp platforms continue to attract billions of users across the world. And that attracts advertisers to Meta. I'm optimistic, too, about Meta's prospects as the smart glasses market really takes off. Zuckerberg was exactly right, in my opinion, when he said during the company's Q4 earnings call that glasses are "the ideal form factor for an AI device."
4. Microsoft
Several representatives and senators have sold shares of Microsoft (MSFT -0.97%) early in 2025. However, Greene continues to buy the tech stock. She also added to her position in Microsoft multiple times in 2024.
Microsoft trades at a premium with a forward earnings multiple of 31. I expect the stock will perform well over the long term. However, it's not at the top of my list to buy now in part because of its valuation but mainly because there are other stocks I think are better picks.
5. Palantir Technologies
Palantir Technologies (PLTR 1.38%) was one of the hottest stocks on the market last year. It has continued those winning ways in 2025 with a gain of over 60%. Greene jumped aboard the Palantir bandwagon on Feb. 11, initiating a position of between $1,000 and $15,000 in the AI stock.
I like Palantir's business. The company should be able to grow revenue significantly marketing its AI and data analytics software to governments and companies. However, I think Greene might be too late to the party.
My main problem with Palantir is valuation. The stock trades at over 208 times forward earnings and nearly 102 times trailing 12-month sales. If the company was growing by a jaw-dropping level, those multiples wouldn't be concerning. But Palantir only expects its revenue to increase by around 30% in 2025. That's solid growth but not nearly enough to justify the price tag, in my opinion.
