Warren Buffett sold more than $100 billion in stocks during his last few years as Berkshire Hathaway CEO.

Warren Buffett once famously said "our favorite holding period is forever," referring to Berkshire Hathaway's (BRKA +0.41%)(BRKB +0.34%) stock investment strategy. However, the legendary investor sold stocks regularly, and here are his rules for when to sell and when to hang on.
