The following video is part of our "Motley Fool Conversations" series, in which analyst John Reeves and advisor David Meier discuss topics across the investing world.

The health-care industry is going through lots of change right now. And there are lots of innovative companies leading the charge. In this video, John and David take a look at a few of them. The field of genomics, which focuses on genomes or hereditary information in genes and DNA, continues to make great strides. Genomic Health, for example, is a very interesting company. It produces genomic-based tests for cancer. This allows doctors and patients to develop individualized treatments. Hospitals and medical practices are becoming more digital. Companies such as athenahealth, Cerner, and Allscripts Healthcare Solutions are leading the charge, bringing information technology solutions to the industry. The company that John and David continue to watch very carefully, which also provides information technology solutions, is Greenway Medical. The recent IPO serves ambulatory care providers, which continue to open up as alternative care providers. John and David look for investments ideas in big trends. Health care provides plenty of opportunities. The aforementioned companies are just a small sample.
