On Tuesday, the Department of Defense announced a series of firm-fixed-price contracts exercising the second option year on pre-existing contracts for "tailored logistics support" services. All four contracts announced today involve the procurement of general category "wood products" for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and federal civilian agencies, and each states a maximum contract value of $57.3 million -- or $229.2 million in total.

The recipients of the awards are four small, privately owned wood products manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors: R.D. Buie Enterprises and S&S Forest Products, both of Boerne, Texas; Middle Atlantic Wholesale Lumber of Baltimore; and Sylvan Forest Products of Portland, Ore. Notably, one of the four companies being awarded these contracts, S&S, is designated  a "service disabled, veteran-owned small business."

None of the four companies is a subsidiary of a larger defense contractor
