On Thursday, aerospace-focused industrial conglomerate United Technologies (RTX -0.35%) announced that, for the second time in less than a month, a major foreign airline has chosen to equip a fleet of Boeing (BA -2.87%) 777 airliners with wheels and hi-tech carbon braking systems from its UTC Aerospace Systems subsidiary.
Last month, it was Russia's Aeroflot buying the advanced brakes to install upon its new fleet of 777-300ER aircraft. This week, it's Thai Airways, affixing the brakes to the very same kind of plane. In total, 14 of the Thai aircraft will be equipped with UTC's wheels and carbon brakes.
In a statement, UTC Vice President of Commercial Programs for Wheels & Brakes Cory May pointed out that his company has a long-standing relationship with Thai Airways, and already has its products on the Thai fleet of 747-400 and 777CL planes.
