Search juggernaut Google (GOOG 2.81%) will be unifying cloud storage available to users among several of its most popular services, the company has announced.
It is now combining 15 GB of storage shared between Drive, Gmail, and Google+ Photos. The change will replace the previous allocation of 10 GB for Gmail and 5 GB for Drive and Google+ Photos.
Over the past couple of years, Google has unveiled numerous initiatives to streamline its offerings and eliminate inefficiencies, including several "spring cleaning" announcements that axed various services. The unified storage is the latest example of Google simplifying its services for the sake of user convenience.
The company also said it would update its Google Drive storage page, which is where users can purchase additional shared storage. Google also eliminated the 25 GB storage plan, and the entry-level paid option will be 100 GB for $4.99 per month.
