While not even yet announced, a smart TV from Apple is the subject of much discussion, but will the device start behind from its release date?

Perhaps one of the most anticipated products ever wished for from Cupertino is the smart TV we are all hoping Apple (AAPL 0.96%) will release soon. Even with this level of hype, you must wonder if the features and functionality that Apple will be able to offer will impress or if they will simply allow Apple, once again, to catch up with others. Samsung has already released a smart TV to rave reviews, and the new Microsoft (MSFT 0.12%) Xbox One offers much of the functionality one expects to see from Apple.
