BlackBerry (BBRY +2.98%) messenger service boasts 60 million users, and it may be one of the best things the smartphone maker still has going for it. A recent tweet suggested that on June 27, BBM service will become available on both Apple's (AAPL +0.11%) iOS and Google's (GOOG 0.57%) Android as a free app. But whether the report was the result of an over-eager tweeter or more mismanagement by the company, fans have been once again disappointed, prompting the question of whether BlackBerry can regain control of its own fate.
