Americans are paying less at the gas pump, according to an Energy Information Administration report released today.
The national average price for regular gasoline clocked in at $3.550 per gallon today, down $0.011 from a week ago and $0.194 below the same time last year. The biggest dip (-$0.062) came from the West Coast area, while the Midwest was the only region where prices headed higher, up $0.023 to $3.501.
But while gas prices cooled off, diesel prices stayed steady, with a minor $0.004 bump over the past week to $3.900 per gallon. Still, this latest price tag is $0.126 below the same time last year. The Lower Atlantic region added $0.014 in the last week, while the Rocky Mountain area knocked $0.01 off its prices.
At these latest prices, the West Coast pays the prettiest penny for gasoline ($3.778) and diesel ($4.057), while the Gulf Coast can guzzle gas for just $3.373 and diesel for $3.822 per gallon.
