The Department of Defense on Monday awarded 15 new contracts worth $443.8 million in total value. Among the publicly traded defense contractors winning contracts:
- Leidos Holdings (LDOS 1.90%) won a contract worth up to $36.7 million to provide maintenance and logistics services to U.S. Army intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance programs.
- Northrop Grumman (NOC 0.63%) won a $14.6 million contract for unspecified work on the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's "Endurance" program through Dec. 27, 2016. Endurance is a classified defense project, the goal of which is to develop a "pod-mounted" laser system that can be mounted aboard aircraft to protect them from heat-seeking guided surface-to-air missiles.
- Lockheed Martin's (LMT 0.83%) mission systems and training division won an $11.4 million contract for work on the same program, through Dec. 24, 2016.
- Tyco's (TYC +0.00%) fire products division won a contract worth up to $13.7 million to supply the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps with aqueous film-forming foam. This two-year base contract may be extended by three additional one-year option periods which, if exercised, would increase its duration past the planned Oct. 27, 2015, performance completion date.
- Raytheon's (RTN +0.00%) intelligence and information systems division won a $12 million contract through March 31, 2016, to support the U.S. Air Force's Military Satellite Communications System (MILSATCOM) Global Broadcast System (GBS), ensuring uninterrupted access to the GBS to garrisoned and deployed war fighters.
