Liquefied natural gas or LNG is a hot topic these days. Whether the conversation is on the future of energy, exporting natural gas or meeting new power demand from Asia, you would be hard-pressed not to hear the word LNG mentioned. I guess that is why LNG was actually mentioned a whopping 66 times during Chevron's (CVX 0.55%) recent Q313 earnings call.
While investors continue to focus on names like Chevron, Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE: RDS-A), ExxonMobil (XOM 1.39%) and Cheniere Energy (LNG 0.93%), the real alpha may actually come from the engineering technology to build new LNG terminals and make them more efficient. This has me excited about Fluor Corporation (FLR 5.63%), which is moving from mining to hydrocarbons and KBR, Inc, a company with a new CFO and new patent to reduce vaporization during the liquefaction process.
