The Department of Defense announced 37 new defense contracts Friday worth a combined $2.2 billion in total value. Defense contractor Northrop Grumman (NOC -0.02%) won two of them for, respectively:

  • $12.3 million: a contract modification for modernization, manufacturing development, and initial deployment of the U.S. Air Force's Air Operations Center Weapon System. This modification increases the value of Northrop's underlying contract past $513.1 million, and extends its duration through Nov. 25, 2015.
  • $10.5 million: a contract modification funding radar engineering and manufacturing development work on the U.S. Marine Corps' ground/air task-oriented radar system through Aug. 31, 2014.

Among the other publicly traded companies winning contracts:

Elbit Systems (ESLT -0.06%) subsidiary M7 Aerospace LLC was awarded an $8.6 million contract modification to continue aircraft maintenance work, repairs, modifications, servicing, logistical support, and other services on 11 C-26 passenger aircraft around the world.

Matson Inc (MATX 0.09%) won a $27.3 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, fixed-price with economic adjustment contract to provide domestic ocean and intermodal distribution services to the U.S Air Force in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico through Nov. 30, 2014.
