Aluminum companies has been lobbying the automotive industry to make the switch from steel for some time now. It appears their efforts are starting to pay off. Ford (NYSE:F) recently announced that its new F-150 will sport a much more lightweight frame thanks to the fact that it will now be 97% aluminum. Companies like Alcoa (NYSE:AA) and Kaiser Aluminum (NASDAQ:KALU) have to be licking their chops, hoping that it convinces other major manufacturers to follow suit.
