Google pulls its high-speed fiber network into Austin, and AT&T responds in kind -- sort of.

Google (GOOGL -3.93%) will expand its high-speed fiber service from Kansas City to Austin, Texas. AT&T (T -1.65%) has responded with a similar but not quite identical project. Competition is always a win for consumers -- and Google might not mind if Ma Bell actually follows through on its promises.
