General Motors (GM 1.01%) said that its U.S. retail sales were up 23 percent last month, a big gain that shows that GM's latest products are impressing more and more buyers. GM saw good gains across the board, as its small cars, crossovers like the Chevy Traverse, and the impressive new Chevy Impala all posted sales increases that outpaced the market.

But retail sales of GM's pickups really shined, up a whopping 51%. In this video, Fool contributor John Rosevear digs into the numbers to show you what's working for GM right now -- and talks about why GM's pickups were able to gain ground on Ford's (F -1.47%) popular F-150 last month.
