On Thursday, Boeing (BA 2.63%) released its second report on airplane orders received -- and canceled -- in 2014. Covering the first three weeks of this new year, it shows Boeing off to a respectable start with four separate buyers placing orders for a total of 33 of its single-aisle 737 airliners so far this year.
Subtracted from these 33 "gross" orders were three 737 cancellations, resulting in a "net" of 30 new plane orders year to date.
In addition to previous orders from Alaska Airlines and Air Algerie, described last week, Boeing advised that it received orders for three 737s from aircraft lessor Jackson Square Aviation (a division of Mitsubishi) over the past seven days, and 20 orders for new 737s from an "unidentified customer(s)."
Boeing notched record performance on orders in 2013, booking 1,531 gross commercial orders, a company record, and 1,355 net commercial orders, the second-largest number in company history. Those numbers included 1,046 net orders for the 737.
