This past quarter has seen a plethora of energy deals; in fact, more than any other first quarter -- including proposed asset sales from Total (TTE -0.32%) and Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A). While the frequency of deals set a first-quarter record, the dollar amount did not, as smaller energy players continue to secure positions in shale assets throughout the United States, while big oil continues to set their sites on international locations.
